Today, one of my piano students (a nine year old girl) “accidentally” told me to “Shut up!” when we were joking around at her lesson. When she realized what she had said, and to whom she had said it, she instantly gasped and put her hands over her mouth, HORRIFIED! I wanted to let her sweat for a moment, but I just couldn’t help myself: I immediately started to laugh so heartily that Karen (not her real name) joined right in, and we both laughed our heads off for a full minute! When we regained our “composer,” she explained that she ONLY says that to her friends, NEVER to adults! Apparently, on some level, she views me as a friend, which I think is the coolest thing ever! Don’t you worry, though: I’ll get back at her. Stay tuned!
